Princesses have been noted as beautiful, graceful, and kind in movies and TV shows, but they can also be so much more than that.

- Princess Ann of England who in 1970 was the president of the Save the Children Organization which helped give kids in developing countries they support they need and protected the rights of all children
- Princess Diana who in 1987 helped open a hospital wing that was dedicated to AIDS, and she went on to stop try to end the stigma of AIDS with handshakes and hugs with AIDS patients
- Princess Ameera of Saudi Arabia in 2011 won the ITP Special Humanitarian Award for her work with Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation which supports higher education for all
- Princess Kate was chosen for a second time in 2013 as one of Time Magazine's "100 Most Influential People in the World"
Some princesses like Kate Middleton were common, everyday people when they met their prince, and others were a bit more well-known, according to nationaldaycalendar.com:
- Rita Hayworth was an American actress when she met and married Prince Aly Khan, son of Aga Khan III (direct descendant of the Prophet Muhammad) in 1949. The two had one child and divorced in 1951.
- Lee Bouvier became Princess Caroline Lee Radziwill when she married Polish Prince Stanislaw Albrecht Radziwill in 1959. Lee is noteworthy for being the little sister of First Lady Jackie Kennedy. The prince and princess wound up having two children and divorced in 1974.
- Another actress turned princess was Grace Kelly. The Oscar-winning actress married Prince Rainer III of Monaco in 1956. The pair had three kids and were married until her death in 1982. Prince Rainer never married after Kelly died.
