MYRTLE BEACH — South Carolina's 7th Congressional District candidate, Graham Allen, has rescheduled a campaign event in Myrtle Beach with Reps. Marjorie Taylor-Greene of Georgia and Matt Gaetz of Florida.

A new date for the event has not been set, per Allen's campaign.

In a YouTube video the morning of Nov. 18, Taylor-Greene and Gaetz cited debate over the Build Back Better plan later in the afternoon as reason they were unable to attend the rally.

"We've endorsed Graham Allen because we need him here fighting in Washington against the Democrats and their Communist plan for America, but Nancy Pelosi has kept us here tonight and we're not able to come because we're fighting the Build Back Better plan that Joe Biden wants Nancy Pelosi to ram through," Taylor-Greene said in the video.

Allen said in a statement to The Post and Courier that it is unfortunate that Taylor-Greene and Gaetz must be in Washington for the vote, but that he is excited to reschedule the event.

"It would be nice if we could count on all Republicans to stand alongside them against this insane runaway spending," Allen said in a statement.

Allen, an Upstate conservative media personality, is one of at least 12 GOP challengers who have filed to challenge Republican U.S. Rep. Tom Rice of Myrtle Beach.

Rice is drawing fierce challenges because he voted to impeach then-President Donald Trump his actions during the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol riot. The state GOP party censured him and left him off the invite list for its Myrtle Beach conference Oct. 29 and 30.

Among those looking to take down Rice for his impeachment vote are S.C. House Rep. Russell Fry of Surfside Beach, Horry County School Board chairman Ken Richardson and former Myrtle Beach Mayor Mark McBride.

Taylor-Greene initially endorsed Allen last month, and described him as a “true patriot” who would “not cower in fear like so many spineless RINOs who care more about being liked by the Fake News & their Dem counterparts than they do about America First.”

“Tom Rice is too weak, too timid, and too afraid to fight back against the Democrats’ communist takeover of America,” Greene said on Twitter. “He cannot be trusted.”
