NVIDIA GeForce NOW Will Be Available On LG's WebOS Smart TVs

NVIDIA is giving gamers yet another way to access GeForce NOW, this time through LG Smart TVs that run WebOS. With GeForce NOW, NVIDIA seems to be having a pretty good week. Or better yet, a pretty good past month. Today it announced the arrival of eight new games on its service. Like it does every Thursday. Letting you stream those games if you own them on their connected client.

It also announced that it’s giving away a free copy of Crysis Remastered to new subscribers of the Priority 6-month and RTX 3080 tier memberships. And now it’s going to be providing another avenue to play GeForce NOW games through LG TVs.

GeForce NOW can already be accessed through a wide variety of devices. Including Chromebooks, Android smartphones and tablets, iPhones, iPads, PC desktops and laptops, MacOS, NVIDIA SHIELD, and even on Xbox thanks the Series X|S’s inclusion of the Edge browser. Now if you have an LG smart TV, it’ll be a little more like Stadia with the Chromecast Ultra. Except you won’t have to plug in any additional devices, as there will be a native app.

The TV app for GeForce NOW is being developed by LG in partnership with NVIDIA

LG and NVIDIA are teaming up to develop this app. Which makes LG the first smart TV manufacturer to have a TV app for NVIDIA’s cloud gaming service.

LG says the app will hit a collection of its smart TVs this week. It’ll start in beta and is compatible with select 2021 LG smart TVs including the 4K OLED, QNED Mini LED, and NanoCell models. LG also says that it will launch the app in beta in 80 markets.

Although it doesn’t specifically state those markets, nor the exact day to expect the app to appear. You won’t necessarily need LG to find this information out though. The app will be downloadable from the LG Content Store. And since you know it’s coming sometime this week, you can just check to see if it’s there.

Anyone with a compatible TV will have access immediately to over 35 free-to-play games like Rocket League and Destiny 2. You’ll also have access to any games that you’ve purchased which are supported via GeForce NOW. Including Cyberpunk 2077, the Crysis Remastered Trilogy, Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy and more.
