Netflix’s dramedy Emily in Paris was one of the pandemic’s biggest love-it-or-hate-it hits last year, but will it manage to keep the same grip on the internet this time around? We’ll have to see, but based on the new Season 2 trailer, watching Lily Collins‘ titular American expat fail upward seems as fizzy and over-the-top as ever.

Emily In Paris Season 2 seems to pick up right where the first left off, as Emily reels over her affair with neighbor Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), who’s dating her friend Camille (Camille Razat). “I used to be so decisive, but ever since I moved to Paris, my life has just been chaotic, and dramatic, and complicated!” Emily exclaims.

“Oh Emily, you’re getting more French by the day!” her posh marketing boss Sylvie scoffs.

According to the official synopsis, Emily’s life will become even more complicated when she meets a fellow expat in her French class who “both infuriates and intrigues her.” How she’ll continue to manage her inexplicable social media success and shameless cultural clashes is anyone’s guess.

Emily In Paris was created by Darren Starr, who brings the same light romantic comedy touch he brought to shows like Sex and the City, Beverly Hills, and Younger. Other returning cast members include Ashley Park, Samuel Arnold, Bruno Gouery, and William Abadie, and recurring guest star Kate Walsh. Lucien Laviscount, Jeremy O. Harris, and Arnaud Binard will join the sophomore season.

So grab a baguette and get ready for even more of the internet’s premier guilty (or maybe not-so-guilty) pleasure.

Emily in Paris Season 2 premieres December 22, 2021 on Netflix.
