WINNER — The name of a 28-year-old Winner woman who died Saturday afternoon, Nov. 13, in a one-vehicle crash east of Winner has been released.
According to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, a 2012 Ford Edge was eastbound on U.S. Highway 18 when it went off the roadway, into the north ditch and hit a tree. Kari DeMers, the driver, was thrown from the vehicle. She was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash occurred at approximately 2:43 p.m. near mile marker 257, four miles east of Winner.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is in charge of the investigation. All information is preliminary at this time.
