Chef Priscilla Curiel, who put bone marrow birria tacos on the San Diego map, is opening two restaurants in Old Town.

The first is the reopening of her Tuétano Taqueria and a new baja-inspired table service eatery called Mar Rustico, reports NBC7.

The two locations are scheduled to open on Thanksgiving weekend at the Old Town Urban Market, which is a food hall-style event and dining center located on Congress and Twiggs streets.

The reopening and launching of the two restaurants are a long time in the making due to the COVID-19 pandemic's impacts on the restaurant industry.

"I'm grateful because I know many people didn't make it through the pandemic. I don't know why or what did it take," Curiel told NBC7. "But since I started the business from scratch and was left with nothing and had two or three jobs to sustain the brand, I'm like, 'You know what? I just hold on like this.' When I jump, I jump completely. And, I think this is going to be a great experience for everyone."

Tuétano Taqueria opened in 2017 and quickly became a hit with customers.

"I had a people visit from Charleston, New York, San Francisco," Curiel told NBC7. "It was like something that brought a lot of people together to have one taco."

She hopes customers will follow her and her delicious tacos to Old Town.
