The trio is in a new town again, but something seems to be wrong with Takt since he has dark circles under his eyes. He also won't stop tapping on surfaces, leaving Anna visibly annoyed. Meanwhile, at the Symphonica, Grand Maestro Sagan tells Schindler to stop keeping an eye out on Takt and interfering with his actions. Schindler believes that Takt needs to be stopped, while Sagan believes the opposite since he thinks that Takt will be of great use to the Symphonica one day. Sagan placing his hope on Takt leads Schindler to hate Takt even more.

Anna and Destiny decide to confront Takt about how he's been acting lately. Takt reveals that he's in the middle of composing a song, which is why he has been occupied. Takt decides to go for a walk to take a break from composing. On the other hand, Destiny starts to do other things that are not related to the D2, such as helping other people out. Takt sees Destiny doing this and watches her from afar. Anna catches up with Takt and tells him that Destiny is trying to do more human things, considering the different kinds of people and experiences they've already encountered.

At a diner, Takt and Destiny start talking. Takt noticed how Anna and Destiny aren't always together anymore. Destiny tells him that Anna has stopped calling her Cosette. She starts asking about who Cosette was and who she is to Anna and Takt, but he tells her to stop. Later on, a D2 attacks the town — Takt and Destiny arrive at the scene just in time. While they may have successfully defeated the D2, Destiny senses the presence of more D2s at a nearby mountain.

Upon arriving, they encounter Schindler and Jigoku. The Musicart was using a tuning fork to summon the D2s. Schindler reveals that he's the one behind the awakening of the D2s, using this to eliminate the poorer towns since the country is unable to provide for everyone. By mentioning that he used Jigoku's special power the first time in the town where Takt was, this reveals that he was the one behind Cosette's death.
