Kim Kardashian is an entrepreneur. A businesswoman. Respectfully, a one-woman federal reserve (she prints money). She’s very good at it! And so when a new photo drops of Kardashian, her mother, and potential new person of interest Pete Davidson, one wonders where the pajamas they’re all wearing are from. The answer is Skims.

The photo(s) arrive(s) via Flavor Flav—VH1 regular, catch-phrase hype man, rapper, and wearer of clock necklaces—who joined fellow reality stars Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian for Pete Davidson’s 28th birthday. This is wild for a couple reasons: one being that Davidson, a man with a Swiftian commitment to dating fellow familiar faces, has gone to dinner with the recently single Kardashian more than once. 

Another is that odd pairings, and especially this type of odd pairing—that is, the conventionally beautiful dating a punky, grungy, tattooed person—has been de rigueur for some time now. In fact, Kardashian’s sister Kourtney pioneered the type and is now going to marry her punky, grungy, tattooed man, Travis Barker. 

And finally, Flavor Flav is there too for reasons that are not immediately apparent. 

In the photo, they appear to be in an upscale coworking space that could very well be Kardashian’s home. Kardashian is making a peace sign while her face is taut in a classic duck face, and Davidson is flipping the bird with his tongue out. Peace out and fuck off. The yin and yang of American hand signals, ones that may be deployed in varying levels of sincerity to various meaningful ends. Are they trolling? one may wonder. Are they simply using us to sell us pajamas? Are they laughing at us but also sincerely dating? These are the major mysteries of our time since neither party will give a clean, straight confirmation or even have the decency to lie to our faces and say, “No we’re not romantically involved.”

The non-mysterious thing that we can all count on, though, is that this post, so perfectly deployed on Flavor Flav’s Instagram, was always going to draw a crowd (the post has nearly 47,000 likes at the time of publishing, while the rapper’s usual average appears to be closer to about 2,000 likes. His last most-liked photo was with Kim’s apparent ex Kanye West). And so, it’s a good example of the age-old adage for those good at drawing attention: If they insist on looking, at least use those eyeballs to sell something. In this case, it’s the Skims fleece pajamas. Everyone but Flavor Flav is wearing them. Respectfully, what a perfect thing to drop just a week and some change before Black Friday.
