Celtic have been linked with several players over the past few weeks as we quickly approach the January transfer window. It is believed that the club will look to make additions to their squad at the start of next year, as it is clear that they need to add depth to Ange Postecoglou’s squad if they are to make a Scottish Premiership title challenge this time around, after finishing 25 points behind the Rangers in 2020/21.

Thus, several exciting names like Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate, Aaron Mooy and others have been linked with the club. Amongst this, the name of Danny Mandroiu has been brought up as well.

The Shamrock Rovers star has been in brilliant form this season. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 15 goals and provided 5 assists in 34 appearances in the League of Ireland Premier Division. Those are brilliant stats for a midfielder.

Rumours have suggested that Celtic have had their eyes on Mandroiu from the summer, and could finally make their move in January.

Celtic to Mandroiu transfer chase takes unexpected twist

As reported by The 42, Shamrock Rovers manager Stephen Bradley has said that he is aware of ‘zero interest’ in Mandroiu.

To be honest, there has not been a lot of excitement amongst the Celtic fans when it comes to a potential move for Mandroiu in January and it is not hard to see why.

Celtic signed Liam Scales from Shamrock Rovers in the summer and he was one of the most highly-rated players in the League of Ireland before moving to Parkhead. In fact, there were many who believed that he was ready to immediately make an impact in the Hoops’ first-team.

Things have not quite gone that way though and Scales is yet to make his first start for Celtic. Thus, it is understandable why the fans might be a bit wary about the club making a move for his former teammate as well.
