‘Tis the season for scarves.

But rather than sport a knit version of the cold weather style staple, Lorde fashioned a scarf out of something more unexpected: her own hair.

While walking the red carpet at the 2021 Guggenheim International Gala in NYC on Wednesday night, the 25-year-old singer wore her hair wrapped around her neck like a scarf.

She paired the style with a strapless ombre gown for the gala, where she also performed.

Although she also accessorized with dainty silver earrings, all eyes were likely on her unconventional ‘do, which her hairstylist Cameron Rains referred to as a “#Hair scarf” in an Instagram post on Thursday.

The “Mood Ring” singer changed into a sparkly suit to hit the stage later in the night, trading her “hair scarf” for a classic braid.

The pop star has been switching up her style throughout her new album era, from wearing a gold breastplate on Vogue’s October cover to sporting a sunny yellow look in her “Solar Power” music video.

She even tried out a platinum blond wig to channel a character in her “Mood Ring” music video this August.

“I sort of underwent something of a transformation for this video because the song is satirical,” she told fans of the new ‘do in a livestream ahead of the clip’s premiere.

But with colder months on the way – and less proverbial “Solar Power” – perhaps we’ll be seeing the Grammy winner sporting more “hair scarves” this winter.

After all, friend Taylor Swift knows “All Too Well,” scarves can sometimes make quite the statement.
