Holly Willoughby gives health update as stomach bug forces her to miss a THIRD day of This Morning and insists she'll be 'back on Monday'... as fans call for Josie Gibson to replace her

Holly Willoughby has given an update on her health after a stomach bug forced her to miss a third day of This Morning on Thursday.

The presenter, 40, took to Instagram to share a statement via her cat Bluebell, where she told that she was still 'under the weather' but assured she'll be back at work on Monday.

It comes after This Morning fans called for Josie Gibson to be Holly's permanent replacement on the show after she stood in for the tummy bug-stricken star alongside Phillip Schofield this week.

Alongside an image of Bluebell, Holly wrote: 'Good morning… My name is Bluebell, sadly Holly won’t be able to come out to play on @thismorning today as she is still under the weather…

'Seriously what I’ve witnessed over the last 48 hours you wouldn’t want her there… I’m sure she’ll be back on Monday… Honestly I’m sick of the sight of her!'

Her message was met with a plethora of comments from fans and showbiz pals who were quick to wish her well, including Davina McCall and Kelly Hoppen.

Meanwhile, Phillip addressed his co-star's absence on Thursday's show, where he explained the mum-of-three had gone through a 'proper rough time of it' with her bug.

He said: 'Good morning to Holly. I texted her this morning and she is much improved from her stomach bug, but still not quite there.

'But she will be by Monday. She's had a proper rough time of it.'

Stand-in host Josie, 36, then thanked Phil for showing her the ropes while they co-hosted the show together over the past three days.

She exclaimed: 'Three days, I can't believe it. I'm really enjoying it and I've had a real good time.

'What our viewers don't you is you're not only presenting and driving the show, you're also teaching me as well. And you've done it so smoothly I doubt anybody at home has noticed.'

To which he replied: 'You're very sweet, but I haven't had to do any of that - because you're brilliant.'

The former Big Brother winner, who has become an instant fan-favourite - admitted on Wednesday that she cried following her anchoring debut, after being 'showered with love' on social media.

As Wednesday's show opened, Phil exclaimed: 'Look who's back!' leaving Josie gushing: 'Thank you so much!' while Phil added: 'There's been a massive response. Everyone loves you'

'Social media can be a very dark place. But yesterday I was showered with love. It's really embarrassing, but I had a good cry for about half an hour!' admitted Josie.

Phil asked Josie if she had cried tears of "relief", and she admitted: 'It was just so emotional. It was a really big thing to be sat here with you yesterday, and to have all those lovely messages.

'I can't thank you guys at home enough,' gushed Jodie, before adding: 'I want Holly to get better. I can only wing it for so long!'

Phil also gave an update on Holly's situation, explaining: I was texting Holly all afternoon yesterday and, apparently, it is a tummy bug that is going around everywhere. It's a two-day thing, so she's lost her appetite.

'Morning, Hols. Hope you're alright. I'll message you later, Holly, and we'll probably see you tomorrow!'

And as the show began, Holly took to her Instagram Stories to thank Josie for stepping in, and confirmed she would be back next to Phil when she is no longer being sick.

She wrote: 'Thank you @josiegibson85 for saving the day yesterday... you are a dream! ... I'll be back as soon as I'm in no threat of vomiting on @schofe (sic)'

But viewers were quick to show their support for Josie, with some even requesting for her to permanently replace Holly in the co-hosting role.
