Odor-Eaters recalls some sprays that may be contaminated with cancer-causing benzene

Odor-Eaters has voluntarily recalled 41 lots of two of its products ”due to the presence of benzene.” Benzene can cause cancer.

Odor-Eaters, owned by Blistex, has voluntarily recalled 41 lots of two of its products ”due to the presence of benzene.”

According to an announcement with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, “Benzene is classified as a human carcinogen.” Exposure to benzene can result in cancers including leukemia and blood cancer of the bone marrow.

Odor-Eaters has not received any reports of illness related to its products.

“Internal testing identified low levels of benzene contamination in specific lots of these aerosol products.”

Odor-Eaters Spray Powder and Odor-Eaters Stink Stoppers spray are antifungal and food odor-reducing agents.

The sprays were sold nationwide. All have expiration dates between Oct. 1, 2021, and Aug 2023. People who bought the sprays can go online to request a refund.
