This is my children’s Mimi’s recipe that she passed down to me. It has served us well for 30 years, each and every Thanksgiving and Christmas. Thank you, Elnora. You are missed.

Ingredients For holiday cornbread dressing

2 c chopped celery

2 lg onions, chopped

5 c crumbled

buttermilk cornbread (dry)

5 c dry bread crumbs

1½ tsp poultry seasoning

3 tsp sage or to taste

1 tsp salt or to taste

1 tsp pepper or to taste

1 stick margarine

1 stick butter

4 lg eggs, beaten

6 c turkey or chicken broth

How To Make holiday cornbread dressing

1 Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

2 Spray a large baking pan with Pam.

3 In a large mixing bowl, combine the crumbled cornbread, bread crumbs, chopped celery, chopped onions, and seasoning. Mix together.

4 Add melted butter, melted margarine, and beaten eggs. Mix well.

5 Add chicken/turkey broth. The dressing should be pretty soupy to start so that it doesn’t get too dry while cooking. You may need to add more broth.

6 Transfer to the prepared baking pan.

7 Bake, covered, for 35 minutes and uncovered for 10 minutes until browned
