Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Ryan Ellis will be sidelined an additional four-to-six weeks after aggravating a lower-body injury, coach Alain Vigneault announced Thursday.

Ellis returned from a nine-game absence due to a lower-body injury in Philadelphia’s 5-2 loss to the Dallas Stars on Saturday. He aggravated the injury and sat out the Flyers’ 2-1 overtime victory versus the Calgary Flames on Tuesday.

He will not require surgery and will attempt to treat his injury through rehabilitation, Vigneault said.

Ellis was acquired by the Flyers from the Nashville Predators on July 17 in exchange for fellow defenseman Philippe Myers and forward Nolan Patrick.

Patrick then was flipped in a separate deal to the Vegas Golden Knights for forward Cody Glass.

Ellis, 30, recorded five points (one goal, four assists) in four games this season.

He has posted 275 points (76 goals, 199 assists) in 566 career games since being selected by the Predators with the 11th overall pick of the 2009 NHL Draft.
