Afghan refugees explore U.S. job opportunities

The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible. FORT MCCOY (WLUK) -- Afghan refugees at Fort McCoy are exploring high demand careers in America.

A nongovernmental organization discussed the basics of different industries in the U.S. and gave insight on what to expect in each field as part of Operation Allies Welcome.
The instructor also talked about taxes and work attire for each field.
Thousands of refugees have been staying at Fort McCoy after fleeing the Taliban takeover.
For the past three months, Afghan refugees have learned to assimilate before resettling. They've received vaccinations and took some English classes.
