The Detroit Red Wings are looking to get back on the winning track when they head a little further out west on Thursday night, as they take on the Vegas Golden Knights in a battle between two teams hovering around the .500 mark.
Detroit has lost back-to-back games for the third time this season, after falling to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday, followed up by a disappointing 5-2 loss to the Dallas Stars on Tuesday. The Wings could not recover from a slow start, where they fell behind 3-0. They tried to rally with goals from with goals from Filip Zadina and Dylan Larkin, who was not able to finish the game due to COVID protocol. The Red Wings are now back to .500 at 8-8-2 on the season.

Many were picking Vegas to be the solidified no. 1 team coming out of the Pacific Division. However, their 1-4 start took many people back. They have started to pick up their play as of late, including winning three straight prior to losing to the very deep Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday. With a lot of injuries to their top players, the Golden Knights have looked to different players to step up, including Chandler Stephenson, who has scored five goals and 11 assists in 16 games played, with Jonathan Marchessault leading Vegas with nine goals.
These two teams met over a week ago in Detroit, with the Wings coming away with a 5-2 win.
