Pep Guardiola is reportedly "in love" with Paris Saint-Germain youngster Xavi Simons and is desperate to sign him in the summer.
The 18-year-old came through Barcelona's famed La Masia academy and was tipped to succeed legendary midfielders Xavi and Andres Iniesta.
However, he left in July 2019 without making a first-team appearance - signing for PSG and penning a reported €1 million per year before tax.
So far the young midfielder has featured twice for the first team, making his Ligue One debut in April 2021.

His contract is up at the end of the current campaign and Mino Raiola, who represents the player, has told PSG he will not sign fresh terms unless he features more regularly for the first-team.
According to Fichajes, Guardiola is a huge fan of Simons and wants City to make a move for the Netherlands youth international on a free transfer.
Barcelona are also said to be interested in bringing him back into the fold, while some other clubs across Europe are keen.

Simons, who joined Barca CD Thader in 201, has excelled in the UEFA Youth League for PSG's Under 19's this term and has even had a change in position.

Against nine-man City in September, he played as a centre-forward and was on target from the spot in a 1-1 draw.
Simons had always been a classy central midfielder but in regards to the central role, PSG are said to have "a lot of faith in him in a position in which nobody thought they would see him".
