Britain's Got Talent judge David Walliams has given an update on the next series, confirming auditions will take place early next year.
The ITV talent show was forced to postpone its 2021 series until 2022 due the coronavirus pandemic, though it looks like the wheels are very much in motion for the next outing.
Appearing on today's (November 17) Lorraine, Walliams confirmed: "We're booked in to do the auditions in January."
He went on to take a typical dig at his fellow judge Simon Cowell, joking: "So I will see Simon then. He didn't come to my birthday, he didn't send me a card or a present or anything.
"He likes to keep me hanging I think," Walliams added. "He knows I love him even more when he treats me cruelly."
Earlier this year, the comedian reacted to BGT skipping a year, quipping that he was "going to miss the money".
"I'm definitely going to miss the show," Walliams continued. "It's a shame but I understand the reasons. We can't do the show as usual, we need the audience. It is a shame but we will be back bigger and better next year!"
On the other hand, Amanda Holden looked at the positive side of the show being postponed, admitting: "I think out of every show on television, Britain's Got Talent needs the audience.
"We need you guys, because we call them the fifth judge and it makes no sense not to have them behind us."
"I actually think it affects the show and it affects the quality of the show and with the biggest will in the world – because there's so much hard work backstage and everyone's really done a huge effort to make it the best show it can be – it still affects it, so I would rather wait and make it the best it can be."
Britain's Got Talent will return in 2022 on ITV.
