Chris Clenshaw's stuff won't be on screen until late winter/early Spring I wouldn't have thought. They filmed the Christmas episodes a month or so ago. Next Christmas maybe!
As had been widely reported, EE have confirmed that this year there'll be a double wedding. I am never sure of these things as they always seem a bit too self-consciously soapy. Most people don't get married on Christmas Day or New Year's Eve/Day but half the people in Walford choose these days to get hitched!
Still, as long as the writing is good, I'll be happy.
I look forward to a Christmas episode that is actually fairly low key. A bit of drama, maybe, something domestic, but with families having a "normal" Christmas. The best Christmas episodes ever written of course for EE remain the 1986 episodes where Den served Angie with divorce papers and Arthur gave his Christmas tree a good hiding. High drama indeed! But brilliantly done and 30 million viewers for such relatively low-fi storytelling can't be sniffed at!
Yes, I do think EE christmas episodes hasn't been great for a few years now! They would have this christmas filmed by now and hope the new producer will be better for the coming year storylines.
