Girl's Day's Hyeri Transforms Into A Daring Spirit Who Isn't Afraid To Rebel For Upcoming Historical Drama With Yoo Seung Ho

KBS’s upcoming historical drama “When Flowers Bloom, I Think of the Moon” (literal translation) has shared a sneak peek of Girl’s Day’s Hyeri in character!

“When Flowers Bloom, I Think of the Moon” is a drama set in the Joseon era, during the time when prohibition laws were at their strongest. The series will tell the love story of Kang Ro Seo, a struggling aristocrat who starts illegally making alcohol in order to support her family (played by Hyeri), and Joseon’s greatest inspector Nam Young, who is known for living a very principled life (played by Yoo Seung Ho).

Although Kang Ro Seo was born to an aristocratic family, her life hasn’t been easy. When her father passed away 10 years ago, she ended up becoming the head of her household at a young age. As her older brother Kang Hae Soo (played by Bae Yoo Ram) is studying for the examination to become a royal official, Kang Ro Seo does everything she can in order to pay for the costs of his books. However, after the sudden downturn in their family fortune, even the slaves of other families look down on her for being poor. Despite the hardships, Kang Ro Seo is a strong and determined breadwinner with unshakable spirit, and she eventually begins to make alcohol in order to pay back her debts.

Newly released stills from the upcoming drama preview Kang Ro Seo’s bold and unique personality. She pioneers her own path by jumping over the high walls, hinting that she’s the type of person who would say, “The place where I walk is the road.” In addition, she sits on the dirt floor and waits to do business, despite the fact that the area is crowded with people coming and going. Although she isn’t as elegant as a common noble lady, her eyes flare with unshakable determination, showing how she isn’t afraid to go against the norm.

The producers of the drama commented, “Kang Ro Seo is a ‘living rule breaker’ who doesn’t fear anything if it’s to support her older brother and make a living. Please look forward to her performance as she deviates from the aristocrat class, [ignores] what people think about her, and breaks taboos.”

“When the Flowers Bloom, I Think of the Moon” will premiere on December 20 at 9:30 p.m. KST following the conclusion of “The King’s Affection.”
