Dodgers News: Chris Taylor and Corey Seager Officially Reject Qualifying Offers from LA

As has been widely reported and anticipated, today the Dodgers announced that shortstop Corey Seager and utility player Chris Taylor have officially rejected qualifying offers.

Dodger insider Dave Vassegh was among those to report the news.

This year, the qualifying offer was valued at $18.4 million for a one year deal. In rejecting the offer, the Dodgers can now receive draft pick compensation if another team signs Seager or Taylor.

While both players are now fully free agents, the door is far from closed on a return to Dodger blue. In the case of Seager, LA is expected to be among the top teams in the running for the shortstop’s services this winter. Reports have a Seager deal coming soon — possibly before December 1st.

As for Taylor, his market is harder to pinpoint. He’s not the best slugger on the open market, but his skill set and ability to play around the diamond is matched by no other free agent. While matching or surpassing $18.4 million per season will be difficult for the 31-year-old, he’ll certainly make up for it in security with a longer term deal.

Both players have All-Star nods under their belt as well as strong postseason track records.

No other Dodgers were extended qualifying offers this offseason.
