The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced some tough news on Wednesday as they reported that cornerback Richard Sherman is being placed on the reserve/injured list.

This is a tough loss for the Buccaneers because they already have some issues with their secondary. Losing one of their better defensive backs is not going to be easy for them. There were rumors before the trade deadline that the Buccaneers would go out and get another defensive back to have some more depth and help them out. It's now coming back to haunt the Buccaneers that they did not make a move before the deadline.

Luckily for the Buccaneers, they do still have arguably the greatest quarterback of all-time in Tom Brady. They have one of the best offenses ever assembled in NFL history as well as an elite defense. Tampa Bay is only one game ahead in the NFC South in front of the second-place New Orlean Saints. Tampa Bay is 6-3 on the year and it's not going to be as easy getting into the playoffs as many expected.

Sherman should be back sometime before the playoffs but if he isn't that is going to be an extremely tough loss for the Buccaneers. He's an older player but he's still a serviceable defensive back and someone who can run a defense.

Tampa Bay will host the 3-6 New York Giants on Monday night in a game that they should be able to win without Sherman.
