Ange Postecoglou spoke to the Celtic Fan Media yesterday, in what was a refreshing change of pace for the supporters eager for information regarding their favourite team. Ange was quizzed on a variety of different issues, with The Celtic Star asking Ange how Scotland differs from Japan in terms of the culture. The manager didn’t disappoint with his reply, citing that he had been invited to various houses since his arrival in Glasgow.

However, what was interesting was his take on recruitment and the plans that are being laid in place ahead of the January transfer window opening up. Ange was quizzed directly about recent summer additions Liam Shaw and Osaze Urhoghide, revealing the pair will be reassessed come the winter transfer window to see what is the best steps to take next in their development.
He said: “Osaze and Liam, difficult for them in the fact that sometimes when you bring in young players – they’re certainly players we brought in as development players – [it’s] much easier to bring those kinds in when the team is settled.”
“But obviously we brought them in at a time where a lot of new players are in the team, the team’s finding its way. Unfortunately we haven’t been able to get a lot of game time for them but they’re working hard at training every day. They’re pushing themselves. I believe even though they haven’t played, they’ve improved as footballers.

Ange was steadfast in his view that the players have improved playing with their new teammates, continuing that a loan deal may be the best step forward to aid their development at a crucial stage in their careers. He added: “If you train every day with us, one thing I will say is you will improve.
It’s about now getting them the right opportunity, that maybe here, that maybe a loan deal somewhere but we’ll make those decisions come January. We’ll sit down with the boys and see what the best way forward is.”
The two ex-Shefdield Wednesday players look very much that they were Lennon signings who were thrust upon Ange when he arrived at Celtic Park. It is unknown yet, if at all, either of the footballers have a long-term future at Parkhead.
However, knowing Ange he wouldn’t let the players waste away their careers not playing football and will look to see what is suitable for their respective careers in the game.
Who knows? a loan spell away may work wonders on their progression just like Kris Ajer at Kilmarnock a few years back. Regardless of the outcome, Celtic should do their utmost to look after these boys future prospects.
