Emmerdale spoilers follow.
Emmerdale's Al moved forward with his plan to take over the Woolpack in tonight's episode (November 17) as he duped Chas into investing in a craft ale scheme he orchestrated while also gaining her trust.
Fans of the ITV soap will know that Al Chapman (Michael Wildman) has invested in the village pub as part of a masterplan to sabotage the business and turn the building into luxury apartments.
In tonight's episode, Al pushed more of his changes onto Chas (Lucy Pargeter) and Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) as well as Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) by hiring his son Ellis (Asan N'Jie) without consulting anyone.

The decision left everyone upset, just as their delivery of a new craft beer that Al was wanting to serve at the pub arrived.
Paddy in particular was taken aback when Chas agreed to give Ellis a trial shift at the Woolie, especially since he doesn't have any bar experience and despite the fact that she just told Ben (Simon Lennon) they didn't have any jobs going.
However, Chas was keen to go along with Al's plans to open up the pub to a younger clientele, which also included a demonstration by a representative of the craft beer brand for the staff.
While Marlon was still not convinced by the new beer, Chas was ecstatic when the rep saw the potential of the Woolpack and wanted to sign a deal with them, especially after Al talked her up to the rep about how loyal she was to her patrons and to the development of the pub.

Later, Chas showed just how much Al's plan worked on her when she admitted to Paddy that "Al is on our side".
But as Al met up with the rep outside alone, we found out that it was all a ruse, discovering that Al paid for this contact of his to play a part.
"The more they trust me, the more control they hand over," Al declared at the end of the episode. "Goodbye pub, hello payday."
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
