The Cleveland Browns are set to take on the Detroit Lions on Sunday. This is a great opportunity for this team to get back on track after their embarrassing loss to the New England Patriots. However, things aren't looking great, as they could be without Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt yet again.

According to Zach Jackson, Kevin Stefanski has already ruled Kareem Hunt out, while the Browns “are just going to follow the protocol,” in regards to Nick Chubb.

Cleveland was without their star running backs against the Patriots and they got blown out of the water. D'Earnest Johnson filled in and had a solid performance, but due to the Browns falling so far behind, they had to eventually abandon the run game.

This situation is not ideal, but it's not the worst news either. There is still hope for Nick Chubb to play on Sunday against the Lions. He's easily the best running back in the Browns backfield and would provide a huge boost in production for the offense. Even so, there is the chance Chubb misses another game due to COVID-19.

The Browns need a win on Sunday over the Lions. Although Detroit is one of the worst teams in the league, the team is hungry for a win. With Cleveland hobbled in the backfield and the wide receiver group dwindling, now might be the time for the Lions to strike and earn their first win on the season.

Keep an eye on Nick Chubb, as his status will be updated throughout the week. He is vaccinated, so there is a solid chance the Browns get their star player in the backfield once again. If not, look for D'Earnest Johnson to take the lead role against the Lions. If that's the case, it might be smart for Cleveland to open up the passing game a bit on Sunday.
