The U.S. House Select Committee to Investigate the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol was formed on July 1. On Oct. 7, Steve Bannon was subpoenaed for his testimony and production of documents on Oct. 21.

On Oct. 8, a lawyer for Bannon wrote in a letter to the committee that Bannon would not comply with the subpoena, because Trump had asserted executive privilege and instructed him not to comply with the subpoena.[54] On Oct. 14, Bannon, apparently following the advice of Trump’s attorneys, announced that he rejected the subpoena in its entirety.
