Loss of engines leads to small plane crash in Rockport; Photos contributed by Dennis Kot

ROCKPORT, Texas – On Monday, Nov. 15, the Texas Department of Public Safety Tactical Marine Unit and Aransas County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a small plane crash at approximately 7:49 a.m. The crash was located in Copano Bay, near Rockport, Texas.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety – South Texas Region, the pilot, 62, was trying to land his Beechcraft Bonanza airplane. As he was making his approach, he lost both engines at around 1,200 feet. He then attempted to restart the engines without success. The pilot finally raised his landing gear and performed a water landing.
