Amazon Studios has unveiled the first full-length trailer for its thriller, Encounter, starring Oscar nominee Riz Ahmed (Sound of Metal, Mogul Mowgli), which it will release in theaters on December 3, and on Prime Video on December 10.
The film directed by BAFTA Award winner Michael Pearce (Beast) centers on Mailk Khan (Ahmed), a decorated Marine who goes on a rescue mission to save his two young sons from a mysterious threat. As their journey takes them in increasingly dangerous directions, the boys will need to leave their childhoods behind.
Pearce and Joe Barton wrote the film, which also stars Oscar winner Octavia Spencer (Apple’s upcoming Spirited, Truth Be Told), Rory Cochrane (Antlers, Reprisal), Janina Gavankar (Big Sky, The Morning Show), Lucian-River Chauhan (Heartland) and newcomer Aditya Geddada.
Dimitri Doganis, Derrin Schlesinger and Piers Vellacott produced, with Daniel Battsek, Fred Berger, Kate Churchil, Jenny Hinkey, Zander Levy, Ollie Madden, and Julia Oh exec producing, and Heather Salter serving as an associate producer. Production executive Lisa Lee oversaw the project for Amazon Studios.
Encounter has been nominated for four British Independent Film Awards, including Best Actor (Riz Ahmed), Best Supporting Actor (Lucian-River Chauhan), Best Music (Jed Kurzel) and Best Sound (Andrew Stirk, Paul Davies, Morgan Muse, Bernard O’Reilly and Julian Howarth). The aforementioned artists will contend for these awards in London on December 5.
