Baz Luhrmann has revealed a sneak preview for his long-awaited Elvis Presley biopic starring Tom Hanks.
The aptly-named Elvis was confirmed back in 2019, but filming was suspended alongside a number of other productions as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, and Tom Hanks himself contracting the coronavirus.
It was originally slated for release in October this year.
But the film is clearly back on track, as director Baz Luhrmann gave us an exciting update, and finally confirmed the release date.
"Elvis Monday," he wrote in a tweet. "Made a little something to let you good people know we are taking care of business on June 24, 2022."
It was previously reported that Warner Bros plans to release its major projects exclusively in cinemas for 45 days, before they are subsequently released on HBO Max. It hasn't yet been confirmed, but we think Elvis will likely receive the same treatment.
The sneak peek gives little away, except a haunting rendition of Presley's 1969 hit 'Suspicious Minds'.
Austin Butler, who will be filling the blue suede shoes of Elvis in the movie, reposted the brief trailer on his Instagram.
Butler is known for playing Tex Watson in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and various Nickelodeon shows including Zoey 101 and Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide.
He reportedly beat out some big names for the role, including Ansel Elgort, Harry Styles and Miles Teller, who all also screen-tested with Luhrmann.
Hanks will play Elvis' manager Colonel Tom Parker, and has recently revealed his hair transformation (or more accurately, removal) in preparation for the role.
The cast also includes Stranger Things star Dacre Montgomery as iconic producer Steve Binder, Luce's Kelvin Harrison Jr as blues legend B B King, and The Society's Olivia DeJonge as Priscilla Presley.
Richard Roxburgh, who previously starred in Luhrmann's Moulin Rouge, and Bad Mothers' Helen Thomson will play Elvis' parents, Vernon and Gladys Presley.
Elvis is planned for release on June 24, 2022.
