Foden has been in fine form for the Skyblues, often playing as their main man in the Striker’s role in the absence of an out and out striker in City’s ranks.

In a recent interview, Guardiola stated

"“He can play as a ledt winger, which is a good position, and right winger is a good position.” “Phil is a player who can play in different positions but especially up front because he has the quality , the precision.” “He had many chances to score in recent games, but he is young and will keep improving.”"

He has made crucial contributions lately by netting the ball twice against Brighton Hove and Albion in a rollicking 4-1 victory and a decisive opener against Club Brugge which set the tone for a brutal 4-0 victory, especially when his side was short on confidence.

The highlight reel though thus far has been his performance against arch-rivals Liverpool at Anfield which ended in a 2-2 stalemate.

The 21-year-old has been in tremendous form for his National side as well as assisting them in sealing the spot for the FIFA World Cup 2022.

The defending Champions received a body blow following the departure of Sergio Aguero and it’s safe to say that they haven’t been able to fill the void left by the Argentine Striker.

They have been linked with many strikers around the world, with Erling Haaland (Borussia Dortmund), Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspurs), Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich), and Mikel Oyarzabal (Real Sociedad) being the most prominent ones among the lot.

Phil Foden has prospered at the rate of knots in the last two years and if this is an indication of where he is heading, Manchester City have the luxury of retaining one of the top prospects of this generation for quite a long time.
