Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra Will Come In A Single Color Variant

Had Samsung followed a yearly launch schedule for its flagship Android tablets, the Galaxy Tab S8 series would have been official a few months ago. But things haven’t been the same in the tech industry recently due to an unprecedented global semiconductor chip shortage. Now, amid reports that the new tablets might arrive in early 2022, we have some more information about them coming our way. Specifically, we know the color variants of all three Galaxy Tab S8 models, thanks to Dutch all things Samsung website GalaxyClub.

According to the new report, the vanilla Tab S8 and Tab S8+ will come in gray, silver, and rose gold colors. The Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, meanwhile, will only be available in gray color. Of course, these are preliminary reports and are subject to change. But from the looks of it, the highest-specced Tab S8 model will come in fewer colorways than its cheaper siblings.

Earlier reports suggested that the Tab S8 Ultra will have a limited launch. It will be available in fewer markets than the vanilla Tab S8 and Tab S8+ and also come in short supply. So this may have something to do with Samsung launching it in a single color.

The limited availability of the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra is not just because of the chip situation but also the production yield issues with its display, a report last month claimed. Samsung is reportedly introducing a new ultrathin display bezel technology with its upcoming flagship tablet. It will sport negligible bezels around the display. But this technology seemingly comes at a cost: poor production yield.

Galaxy Tab S8 launch date

Samsung launched three Galaxy Tab S7 models. The vanilla Tab S7 and Tab S7+ arrived in August last year. The Korean giant then followed with the Galaxy Tab S7 FE in May this year. It is now preparing to introduce three Galaxy Tab S8 models, namely the Tab S8, S8+, and S8 Ultra. The three models are said to sport an 11-inch, 12.4-inch, and 14.6-inch display respectively. All of them will reportedly feature Qualcomm’s next-gen flagship processor, which could arrive as Snapdragon 8 Gen1.

Unfortunately, we don’t yet have a launch date for the upcoming flagship Android tablets from Samsung. Rumors suggest the devices could break cover at CES 2022 early in January. But some also hint at an MWC 2022 launch the following month.

Nonetheless, the Galaxy Tab S8 series is gradually taking shape. We will be keeping a close eye on any new information that emerges in the coming weeks.
