In an intriguing matchup in a light schedule for the NHL on Wednesday night, as two teams, who have been underwhelming according to some, meet up in British Columbia, as the Colorado Avalanche get set to take on the Vancouver Canucks.
Many were picking the Avs to be definitive Stanley Cup favorites coming out of the Western Conference this season. With star power such as Nathan MacKinnon, captain Gabriel Landeskog and defenseman Cale Makar, the pieces are there for a deep playoff run for Colorado. However, they have only been decent to start the season, starting at a disappointing 2-4 mark. However, with a healthy MacKinnon back in the lineup, and the surging play of Nazem Kadri, have won five of their last six games.

The Canucks were expected to improve this season after a disappointing 2020-21 campaign, with a lot of additions such as Conor Garland. Yet, they have not been able to string many wins together, and come into Wednesday night sitting second-to-last in the Pacific Divsion, only three points ahead of the expansion Seattle Kraken. To make matters worse, they have lost each of their last four games.
This is the second of three meetings between the two clubs, with the Avs handing the Canucks a huge 7-1 loss last Thursday in Denver.
