Boosters for all adults in US closer with panel meeting set
An influential U.S. advisory panel will discuss expanding eligibility for COVID-19 vaccine booster shots to all adults Friday, a move that could make the shots available nationwide as early as this weekend.
Some cities and states already allow all adults to get boosters of Pfizer’s vaccine, but it is not yet official U.S. policy. Read more.
Twitter rolls out redesigned misinformation warning labels
Twitter users will soon see new warning labels on false and misleading tweets, redesigned to make them more effective and less confusing, the Associated Press reports.
The labels are an update from those Twitter used for election misinformation before and after the 2020 presidential election. Those labels drew criticism for not doing enough to keep people from spreading false information.
The redesign launching worldwide is an attempt to make them more useful and easier to notice, among other things. Read more.
Rittenhouse jurors to return for Day 2 of deliberations
Jurors weighing charges against Kyle Rittenhouse are to return today for a second day of deliberations in his murder trial, after they failed to reach a swift verdict on whether he was the instigator in a night of bloodshed in Kenosha or a concerned citizen who came under attack while trying to protect property.
The jury of 12 deliberated for a full day Tuesday without reaching a decision. Read more.
Texas sues Biden administration for requiring health care workers to get COVID-19 vaccine
In Texas’ latest legal challenge targeting federal vaccination mandates, Attorney General Ken Paxton is suing the Biden administration over its recent order requiring health workers to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
The Biden administration issued an emergency order, which went into effect Nov. 4, requiring eligible workers at health care facilities participating in the Medicare and Medicaid programs to get the first shot of a two-dose vaccine or a one-dose vaccine by Dec. 6. Read more.
