F1 boss and Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto shares his reaction to Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc potentially fighting on track.

After concluding the Brazilian Grand Prix, Ferrari overtook McLaren at the constructor standings for F1, thanks to Leclerc and Sainz finishing P5 and P6, respectively. It was observed during the race that the two battled it out from turn three to turn four of the first lap, with Sainz squeezing Leclerc down the inside line.

Binotto seems to have a favorable reaction to this specific encounter.

“It's great to see them fighting on track.”

“It was a good start in the first corners. They have been very safe in making sure they don't damage themselves, which is important for me and the team.

“The two drivers are really behaving very well, and from my side, to manage it, it's a lot easier when the drivers understand the team spirit.”

In the past, teammate rivalries have led to controversial fights and bad relationships between two individuals. To name a few, there was Lewis Hamilton vs. Nico Rosberg, Mark Webber vs. Sebastian Vettel, etc. However, Binotto stresses he doesn't seem too worried about the last race's occurrence.

“I've always said the priority is the team and we will do whatever we can to maximize the team points.”

“Apart from that they are free to fight at the moment, and hopefully in the future it will be so good they will be free to fight each single race.”

Ferrari is trying their best to hold off McLaren in the constructor standings of F1, maintaining a 31-point lead.
