Suni Lee bid farewell to “Dancing with the Stars” on Monday night, after nine weeks and 13 performances on the ABC reality series. The Olympic medalist and Auburn University student was paired with Sasha Farber on Season 30, and the couple offered some memorable moments on the dance floor.
Here’s a look back at all of Lee’s performances on the show, as she tackled dance styles ranging from jive to salsa to contemporary. (More details on each episode can be found via the links for Week One, Week Two, etc.)
Now, let’s dance!
WEEK ONE
Lee and Farber performed a Jive to “Stay” by The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber. She wore a sparkly pink costume and a shy smile, executing precise moves and kicks.
WEEK TWO
Lee and Farber performed a cha-cha to “I Like It” by CardiB, Bad Bunny and J Balvin. Overcoming her pre-show jitters, Lee added spice to the precisely executed routine. She also nailed an exuberant backflip in her high-heeled shoes.
WEEK THREE
On Britney Night, Lee and Farber performed a foxtrot to “I’m a Slave 4 U.” No, she didn’t sling a Burmese python around her neck, as Spears famously did during a performance at the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards. But Lee did her best to project a sultry vibe as she danced to the slithery pop tune. As a bonus, Lee tossed in a graceful handstand at the start of the routine.
WEEK FOUR, NIGHT ONE
On Disney Heroes Night, Lee and Farber performed a salsa to “Colombia, Mi Encanto” from the Disney movie “Encanto.” (Never heard of it? The animated film is set for release on Nov. 24, with songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda.) Farber choreographed an intricate, zippy routine and Lee was up to the challenge, moving and grooving with joyful abandon. Two cartwheels were part of the action, and Lee nailed them with a smile.
WEEK FOUR, NIGHT TWO
On Disney Villains Night, Lee and Farber performed a Viennese waltz to “I Put a Spell On You” by Annie Lennox, inspired by the 1993 movie “Hocus Pocus.” Lee, who can be quite reticent, is learning to create characters and let her emotions flow as a dancer. As a result, her performance with Farber was full of tricks and treats. (Lee rocked a Bette Midler wig, too.)
WEEK FIVE
On “Grease!” Night, Lee and Farber performed a Charleston to “Born to Hand Jive.” The fast-moving routine included a backflip -- expertly executed by Lee -- as well as a balloon cascade, a foot-to-the-chest move and some zippy hand gestures. At the end of the dance, Lee jokingly smashed a whipped-cream pie into Farber’s face. (Yes, there’s a pie-throwing scene in the film.)
WEEK SIX
On Horror Night, Lee and Farber performed a tango to “Bad Habits” by Ed Sheeran. Their routine -- precise and elegant, with a series of dizzying twirls -- was inspired by the TV series “The Vampire Diaries.” (Nina Dobrev of “The Vampire Diaries” appeared in a brief video clip, sending good wishes to Lee and Farber.
WEEK SEVEN
On Queen Night, Lee and Farber performed a paso doble to “We Will Rock You.” Lee wasn’t feeling well, but she powered through the fierce, staccato movements without betraying her illness. She swished her skirts in bullfighter style and gracefully aced a couple a dizzying twirls on the floor. When the dance ended, Lee rushed off stage — to vomit, she said later. Her mental strength and can-do attitude prevailed.
For bonus points, Lee and Farber also performed a Viennese waltz to “We Are The Champions.” Their waltz was part of a relay competition that required three teams to perform the dance in rapid succession.
WEEK EIGHT
On Janet Jackson Night, Lee and Farber performed a samba to “All for You.” Although she’s struggled in the past to let loose and have fun on stage, Lee seemed to be in her element. Her samba was playful and precise, spicy and expressive. If Lee is hitting her stride as a dancer, the timing is ideal, with just two more weeks to go in the competition.
For bonus points, Lee and Faber also participated in a dance-off against Jimmie Allan and Emma Slater. Both couples performed a salsa to the Latin version of “Made for Now,” dancing side-by-side in the ballroom.
WEEK NINE
In the semi-finals, Lee and Farber danced a foxtrot to “Haven’t Met You Yet” by Michael Buble. In this Redemption Round, the couple had to repeat a dance style they’d performed (and struggled with) earlier in the season, with coaching during rehearsals from one of the judges. Overall, the performance was elegant, upbeat and exuberant -- not the most precise performance we’ve seen from Lee, but definitely a crowd-pleaser.
Lee and Farber also performed a contemporary routine to “Gravity” by Sara Bareilles. Emotional storytelling and athletic prowess were showcased here, melding Lee’s gymnastics background with her newfound abilities as an entertainer. Farber’s choreography evoked the push and pull of a troubled relationship, as a couple battles and reunites, fights and reconciles.
