'Halo Infinite' Has Already Become The Most Played Xbox Game On Steam

In case you missed it, Halo Infinite's multiplayer had a surprise release. 343 Industries and Xbox thought it would be a great treat to allow us all to experience the free multiplayer of the newest Halo, before the campaign’s release at the beginning of December. And honestly? It’s great, and the stats have already proven that. 

As reported by GamesRadar+, Halo Infinite is already the biggest Xbox game to ever appear on Steam. When looking at the number of concurrent players, the free multiplayer has been drawing in huge swathes of old fans, and new players looking to discover what Halo is really like. According to SteamDB, the highest number of players all online at the same time was a mighty 272,586 - that’s huge.

Daniel Ahmad on Twitter notes: “Halo Infinite multiplayer, which launched *looks at watch* about 2.5 hours ago, has already surpassed 162k peak concurrent users on Steam. This makes it the most successful Xbox Game Studios title of all time on Steam.” The analyst goes on to point out that Halo: The Master Chief Collection had a highest peak of 161,000 and newly released Forza Horizon 5 hit 81,000 players. Both were huge releases in their own right but it does seem that Infinite is set for success with the huge amounts queuing up for games already. 

Needless to say, this seems all very positive for 343 Industries and the launch of Halo Infinite next month. The game goes live on December 8, which is just a measly few weeks away. Don’t worry, when the full game launches, you’ll be able to carry over progress from the multiplayer portion, so if you’re looking to get good, you might want to pick up the free game sooner rather than later.
