Chapin, Virginia Lee (Wentworth) A Texas country girl at heart. Age 101, of Excelsior, MN and for the last eight years living with her family in Minneapolis, died at home on November 10, 2021 from natural causes. She was born on April 17, 1920 near Granbury, TX. She met our dad, an easterner, in June, 1943 when he was in Texas for Army Air Corps training. She married him five months later and moved 'up north' and has been living with us 'Northerners' ever since. She was proud to tell that during the war he wrote to her every single day that he was oversees. She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Virgie Wentworth; husband, Chip; brothers, Otto and Charles; and sister, Kate. She is survived by her sister, Lucille; sons, Warren "Skip" (Barbara), Fred (Karen), and daughter, Linda (Ben); grandchildren, Laurie (Sasanka), Alex (Lindsay) and Rebecca; step-grandchildren, Viktoria (Marshall) and Alexandra, and great-grandchildren, Quinn, Avery and Silas; and many cousins, nieces and nephews, mostly living in Texas. Mom was a longtime member of Excelsior United Methodist Church. She enjoyed travelling the world and watching life go by out her window overlooking Lake Minnetonka in Excelsior. Our family will have a graveside service next spring at the country cemetery near Granbury, TX not 5 miles from where she was born, where she will be buried beside our dad who we lost 45 years ago. The family wishes to thank Fairview Hospice for their loving care and wise counsel. Memorials preferred to donor's choice. Gill Bros. 612-861-6088 gillbrothers.com
