Erling Haaland will not be at the 2022 FIFA World Cup after Norway fell short in their final qualifier against the Netherlands on Tuesday evening.

The group stage of the European qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup wrapped up on Tuesday, and Norway suffered a 2-0 defeat against the Netherlands in their crucial Group G clash. Norway needed a win to have any chance of qualifying, and the result means that Erling Haaland and co. will not be a part of next year’s World Cup in Qatar.

Norway were without Erling Haaland on Tuesday, as the Borussia Dortmund striker is currently sidelined with a hip flexor injury. And his absence was heavily felt in the Norway attack, as they failed to register a shot on target.

The 2-0 win over Norway helped the Netherlands seal their qualification for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Late goals from Steven Bergwijn and Memphis Depay helped secure the win for the runners-up of the 2010 World Cup. Donyell Malen was an unused substitute for the Netherlands.

Borussia Dortmund trio Axel Witsel, Thorgan Hazard and Thomas Meunier were also in action for Belgium on Tuesday. The Red Devils could only manage a 1-1 draw against Wales. Witsel and Hazard both played 90 minutes for Belgium, while Meunier was substituted in the 85th minute. Kevin De Bruyne opened the scoring for Belgium, before Kieffer Moore made it 1-1 for Wales in the 32nd minute.
