Q&A | Discussing Surprise Apple Holiday Releases, AirPods Pro 2, AirPower, New HomePod (and More)

Pwign / Twitter

Every week I write a Q&A to answer the most interesting Apple-related questions I receive from our readers! Send me your questions in response to one of my Tweets, to my direct messages, or to my email address. I can not guarantee that your question will be answered right away, but I’ll do my best to answer as many as I can. Let’s get started.

Will there be something new for Christmas, like the AirPods Max last year?

I don’t think we will see any new Apple products this year. There are no events planned, and as far as I know, there are no releases scheduled either. I’ll keep you updated on my Twitter account if anything changes, but for now, do not expect anything new.

What was your favorite leak of the year?

The AirPods 3, no doubt about it. I Tweeted pictures of them back in March. No one really believed it, and only a few media outlets cared, but in the end, I was right, and the pictures were real.

Will the AirPods Pro 2 upgrade be worth it?

Absolutely. I own a pair of AirPods Pro and can not wait to get the second generation. However, I do not expect AirPods Pro 2 to launch until September 2022 based on the supply chain information I’ve received from my sources.

Will we ever see Apple’s AirPower?

The AirPower was a great concept. If it had ever come to market, I’d probably have one sitting next to me right now, but that’s not going to happen. As much as I’d like to be wrong, I have been confirmed by multiple sources that Apple has stopped working on the AirPower as we know it. Maybe there are other wireless chargers in the works, but definitely not the AirPower.

Is Apple working on a bigger HomePod?

Yes. The original HomePod was not really a success in terms of sales. Apple knows this and is working on a solution. I am not saying it was a bad device. I own one and love it, but to the general public, it looked like an overpriced smart speaker with possibly the worst voice assistant on the market. That’s why I do not think we will see the new HomePod anytime soon. Siri is the key, and Apple needs to improve it significantly first. If the redesigned HomePod is unveiled before then, I am pretty sure it will be another disaster in terms of sales. Do not expect it until Q4 2022.

Have you received any threats from Apple’s legal team?

I live in a country where freedom of the press is strongly protected. Have I received them? Maybe. Do I care about them? No, not at all. Maybe, just maybe, Apple employees would not leak so much information if Apple treated them better instead of threatening them with fines and allegedly forcing them to wear police-like body cameras.

Will the new iMac and Mac mini launch at the same time next year?

That’s the most likely scenario. I have heard of an event in March where both devices could be unveiled. Don’t forget to send me your question if you want me to answer it. Thanks for reading!
