Raheem Sterling has been the latest subject of the rumor mill as his future continues to be a subject of speculation.

Over the last year, Sterling has fallen down the pecking order at the Etihad, with Phil Foden and Jack Grealish gaining prominence over him. Having said that, Sterling was the standout performer for England in the recently concluded Euro 2020.

Sterling has been heavily linked with a move to FC Barcelona in recent times and the reports have only grown in intensity in the past few weeks. Having said that, El Nacional understands that Manchester City are open to letting go of Raheem Sterling in return for Barcelona shot-stopper, Marc Andre Ter-Stegen.

MATS has come under some heavy fire as statistically, he has been conceding more than a goal a game in his Barca career.

Ter-Stegen currently looks like a goal-keeper who is way past his prime and while he isn’t receiving much support from his backline either, he has conceded goals that have to be stopped by a keeper of his class.

The only possible reason behind City wanting Ter Stegen could be the fact that they want to induce a sense of competition for Ederson. Ederson has been good for the Cityzens but so was the German goal-keeper for Barcelona. The reason that MATS is so highly rated is that he was absolutely world-class at a point in time but that soon changed because there was no one capable of competing with Marc between the goal-posts.

MATS can not only prove to be a suitable competition for Ederson but can also pip him in the race for a spot in the XI.

While El Nacional is not an extremely reliable source when it comes to Barcelona transfer news, this piece of news surely raises an eyebrow but rest assured, it is unlikely that the German showstopper would want to settle for a second-fiddle role despite his recent difficulties between the sticks.

Do you see MATS making a trip to the Etihad with Sterling going the other way?
