Rangers forward Sammy Blais done for the season after incident with P.K. Subban

During Sunday night's game between the New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils, forward Sammy Blais was clipped on his skate blade by P.K. Subban's skate, causing Blais to fall to the ice in pain. He needed to be helped off by a teammate and a trainer.

Subban didn't receive a penalty on the play, nor did he have a hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety.

On Tuesday morning, as further test results were revealed, it was determined that Sammy Blais has a torn ACL and will miss the remainder of the 2021-22 season.


"As feared, it's a torn ACL for Sammy Blais, according to a source. Big blow for #NYR, who will be without him for the rest of the season. @NYP_Brooksie had it first." Vince Z. Mercogliano of USA Today said.

Blais, 25, was in his first season with the Rangers after an off-season trade from the St. Louis Blues. The Montmagny, Quebec native was struggling to start the season, only recording four assists in fourteen games.
