From the school run to star-studded dinners, Victoria Beckham has every dresscode down. The designer captures her versatile approach to fashion in her latest 18-piece autumn/winter 2021 capsule for Mytheresa. “I want to feel great while ensuring my clothes work with me and for me,” she tells Vogue. “We wanted to create a collection that felt very seasonal, autumnal, while still celebrating our signature design codes: beautiful cuts, versatile separates and bold pops of colour.”
During the making of the collection, Beckham thought about what she personally “needed” in her wardrobe, and what “today’s woman” desires for the autumn/winter season. The answer? Simple hardworking pieces that do it all. “I think the past 18 months have definitely influenced how we wear our clothes. People want to be comfortable; to not have to overthink their outfits,” she says. “But I also think there’s a real desire to get dressed up again, to wear something structured that makes you feel confident. It’s about a balance of both which I think this capsule really provides.”
Brightly-coloured knits, including a rust-coloured polo-neck and a peppy green sweater with a peephole back and bow detailing – are headlines from the edit, but there’s plenty for minimalist enthusiasts, too. There’s even a cosy cable-knit cardigan reminiscent of her husband David Beckham’s #cottagecore knitwear.
The highlight is the new interpretation of the Atonement-green slip dress VB wore last month, which comes in tangerine, too. But we’ve also got our eye on the striped pyjamas that can be – as Beckham promised – made suitable for the school drop-off or a dinner somewhere fabulous.
