After a single stop at home, the Nashville Predators are back on the road - this time in eastern Canada - and it starts tonight in Toronto against the Maple Leafs.
The Preds have now won three-straight games and have victories in eight of their last 10 outings, and they'll face a Toronto team tonight that has also won three in a row with an 8-2-0 mark in their last 10 games. Clearly, it's a matchup between two of the League's hottest teams, and the Predators are looking forward to the challenge as they look to add to an already-impressive 5-2-1 road record.

"Toronto is a great team," Preds Captain Roman Josi said following Monday's practice in Nashville. "They are great offensively, they have a lot of high-end talent upfront, really good off the rush, a team that makes a lot of plays, and I think it's definitely going to be one of those games where we have to manage the puck. We have to get on the forecheck, which is our strength, and get pucks into their zone. You can't turn over pucks against a team like that because it's going to come back and bite you."
"The fact that you can win on the road - there's different circumstances - but the way that we've played, we've had leads, we've had some tough losses, we've come from behind, we've had some overtime games - so I think when you look at what we've gone through on the road, I guess my biggest thing - the biggest positives - would probably be that there's been a mixed bag of situations and results," Preds Head Coach John Hynes said. "I think the fact that we've been able to get through those with wins and points is really important as we continue to build our team, build our game, build the identity, build our toughness - that's a big part of playing on the road."
The Predators practiced Monday at Bridgestone Arena, but none of Nashville's injured players - Filip Forsberg (IR, upper-body), Nick Cousins (IR, upper-body) and Alexandre Carrier (day-to-day, upper-body) - were present for the session.
Additionally, Nashville's journey north of the border has now become a two-game trip. On Monday afternoon, the NHL announced the postponement of Ottawa Senators games through at least Saturday due to the number of Senators players currently in COVID protocol. The Preds were supposed to play in Ottawa on Thursday, and they'll now have just two contests on the trip - tonight in Toronto and Saturday in Montreal.

The Good Guys:

Nashville defeated the Arizona Coyotes by a 4-1 final on Saturday night behind a pair of goals and four points from Josi, one goal from Matt Duchene and another tally from Mikael Granlund. Juuse Saros got the win in net with 22 saves for his seventh victory of the campaign.
Duchene (9g-7a), Josi (6g-10a) and Granlund (3g-13a) are all tied for the team lead in scoring with 16 points apiece. Ryan Johansen (5g-4a) has nine points in 15 games, and Tanner Jeannot has five goals and eight points for Nashville. Saros is 7-4-1 on the season with a .927 save percentage.

The Opposition:

Toronto has just one loss in seven tries thus far in the month of November, and they've won three-straight games, including a 5-4 triumph over Buffalo on Saturday. John Tavares (8g-7a) and William Nylander (7g-8a) are tied for the team lead in scoring with 15 points each. Mitch Marner (3g-11a) has 14 points on the season, and Auston Matthews (6g-6a) has 12 points. Jack Campbell is 8-3-1 in net for the Leafs with a .939 save percentage.

All-Time Meetings:

The Predators are 13-10-(1)-2 all-time against the Maple Leafs, including an 8-5-(1)-1 record on the road. Nashville and Toronto last met on Jan. 27, 2020 at Bridgestone Arena, a 5-2 defeat for the home team.
Overall, the Predators have earned at least a point in eight of their last 12 games (6-4-2) against the Maple Leafs. The Predators are 2-2-1 in their last five games at Scotiabank Arena.
In 2018-19, the Predators shut out the Maple Leafs in both of their two meetings. Per NHL PR, Nashville became the second team in NHL history to sweep a season series with the Maple Leafs (minimum two games) with shutout wins in each game (also: Philadelphia in 1992-93). On Nov. 18, 2014, 15 Preds skaters reached the scoresheet, led by Taylor Beck's two goals and an assist, as Nashville tied a franchise record for goals in a game, topping Toronto 9-2 at Scotiabank Arena.

Notables Versus Toronto:

Ryan Johansen has averaged nearly a point per game vs. Toronto in his career, tallying 14 points (6g-8a) in 16 games. Haliburton, Ont., native Matt Duchene owns 12 points (4g-8a) in 17 career meetings with the Maple Leafs. He is on a three-game point streak against Toronto (1g-2a).
