[UPDATE: Xiaomi MIX Lineup] Two Xiaomi 12 Ultra Flagships Coming, Some Details Surfaced

UPDATE: It seems like Xiaomi “Loki” and “Thor” phones won’t be Xiaomi 12 Ultra smartphones, so we may not get two or more “Ultra” phones. These two phones belong in the Xiaomi MIX lineup, it seems.

ORIGINAL ARTICLE: Xiaomi seems to be planning to launch two Xiaomi 12 Ultra flagships. Well, that may be true, if you tend to believe a new rumor that just popped up. It’s coming from Xiaomiui.net, as the site stumbled upon two Xiaomi 12 Ultra models in the Mi code.

Two Xiaomi 12 Ultra flagships may be coming

Those two models are codenamed “Thor” and “Loki”, and we seem to be looking at the Xiaomi 12 Ultra and Xiaomi 12 Ultra Enhanced Edition. There’s a catch, though.

After digging through the code, the source discovered that it’s possible the “Enhanced Edition” may not launch with that name. That device may actually arrive as the Xiaomi MIX 5. That’s just a guess, though.

That device has an under-display camera, while the regular “Ultra” does not. It also seems to be different than the regular “Ultra” in some other ways. It’s possible that Xiaomi may use the “Enhanced Edition” branding in some markets, though, maybe its home market.

There are a lot of unknowns here, at the moment, to be quite honest. We can only guess what will happen, but for the time being, two “Ultra” models have been spotted.

A 50-megapixel main camera is expected

Having said that, some camera-related information also appeared. The source says that the Xiaomi 12 Ultra models are expected to utilize a 50-megapixel main camera, possibly Samsung’s ISOCELL GN5 sensor.

That is interesting, as the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra shipped with a 108-megapixel main camera. This 50-megapixel camera likely won’t be a downgrade in any way, though, as more megapixels doesn’t necessarily mean a better camera, of course.

Both “Ultra” models are also said to utilize a 48-megapixel telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom, a 48-megapixel camera with 5x zoom, and another 48-megapixel camera with 10x zoom. An ultrawide camera will likely also be included. Those zoom values are shown in the multicam mode below.

Now, we somehow doubt that Xiaomi will utilize three 48-megapixel telephoto cameras. This information seems to be a bit off. Maybe two telephoto cameras, while one of them will cover two of the zoom values mentioned by the source. A main camera, two telephoto cameras (including a periscope one), and an ultrawide camera would make more sense, but we’ll see.
