A person killed on I-71 north of downtown was struck by at least two vehicles early Tuesday morning, according to Columbus police.
The driver of a Ford F350 hauling a car trailer called CPD around 2:30 a.m. to report a pedestrian ran in front of the pickup as it traveled northbound near E. 5th Avenue, police said.
The pickup driver continued on the highway, but stopped to report the crash, police said.
The pedestrian was struck at least one additional time before officers and paramedics arrived, police said. No details about the second vehicle were released.
Investigators haven’t shared any information about the identity of the person who was killed.
This was the 88th traffic fatality in Columbus this year.
