New World from Amazon Games has had its fair share of ups and downs since its release. One of the downs came in the form of a gold duplication glitch that was fairly quickly fixed by Amazon Games. Today, a new exploit was found that resulted in some exploiters pulling in some big monetary gains.

This new exploit allowed players to duplicate endgame trophies. These trophies could then be sold off at the in-game auction house en masse, which significantly lowered their average price. These trophies would typically run players several thousand gold each.

To combat this issue, Amazon Games has temporarily disabled all forms of wealth transfer within the game. They have, effectively, turned off the in-game economy until they are able to deploy a fix for this new issue.

Hi all,

We are aware of a possible duplication exploit that has been circulating the forums and social media. We are disabling all forms of wealth transfer between players (ie. sending currency, guild treasury, trading post, player to player trading) while we investigate. Any player that has engaged in the use of this exploit will be actioned against.

Once the duplication exploit has been investigated and we are ready to turn on wealth transfer again, we will update this post.

Thank you for your understanding.
When the previous economic crisis hit New World, Amazon Games said that they would take "remediation steps" against those players who "egregiously exploited" a bug that let players duplicate coins. It can only be assumed that they will once again be taking steps to punish those that severely abused this new exploit.
