Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry returned home to Charlotte to face the Hornets on Sunday. But his homecoming wasn't the only reunion to take place on this day. NFL star Cam Newton also made his return to the Carolina Panthers to face the Arizona Cardinals.

In his season debut with the Panthers, he scored two touchdowns, one rushing and one passing. Although Curry lost his game, he was pleased about Newton and the Panthers winning.

“It was kind of surreal watching. Obviously, you know how much of a fan I am and how weird it was just watching Panthers football without him the last couple of years. So I'm rooting for him,” Curry told ClutchPoints.

Newton made the most of his limited opportunities by making a positive impact in their win. Curry, on the other hand, struggled most of his game. He finished 7-of-22 from the field and 3-of-13 from deep. The Warriors lost to LaMelo Ball and the Hornets, 106-102. It snapped the seven-game winning streak they were on, dropping their record to 11-2.

The Warriors still hold the best record in the NBA, and they will continue their road trip to face Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday. It will be the first of two times these teams will see each other this season.

Meanwhile, Cam Newton and the Panthers will face the Washington Football Team in their next game. Another win will make it two in a row for Curry's favorite football team, but a win against the Nets is more appealing to the two-time MVP.
