Samsung to make even bigger push for foldable phones in 2022

When the first Samsung foldable launched, it was kind of a disaster with early reviews pointing out physical issues with the display and the hinge. Plus at that price point, you wouldn’t be alone if you thought that foldable phones would go the way of 3D phones and end up fizzling out.

If anything, Samsung actually doubled down and their perseverance has paid off with its 2021 foldables, with some reports suggesting that the company actually put off launching some of their other phones in favor of focusing their resources on cranking out more foldables to meet the demand.

Now a report from The Elec suggests that this is the same trajectory Samsung is heading down on for 2022, where they are expected to increase production of their foldable phones. The report claims that Samsung will focus more on the Galaxy Z Flip 4 where they are aiming to produce as many as 6.9 million units of the phone, and 2.9 million units of the Galaxy Z Fold 4.

For context, the company reportedly targeted 4 million units for the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and 3 million for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 for 2021, but it seems the success they saw with the cheaper Galaxy Z Flip 3 model has led them to decide to produce more units of its successor next year.
