The New York Rangers were scheduled to play another back-to-back set this coming weekend. That is no longer the case as the Ottawa Senators have postponed their next three games, including Saturday against the Blueshirts.

Rangers game against Senators postponed
The Senators have been hit particularly hard by COVID-19 cases. The count seems to change by the day and even by the hour, they are now without ten players plus associate coach Jack Capuano. All are vaccinated, and all had at least some symptoms.
“The NHL will postpone games vs. New Jersey Tuesday along with Thursday vs. Nashville and Rangers here in Ottawa Saturday because of the COVID-19 outbreak with 10 players in protocol,” Bruce Garrioch reported.
The news of the three game postponement is also subject to change if more positive cases continue.
Filip Chytil close to a return
The Rangers also announced that Greg McKegg was sent back to the Wolf Pack in the AHL.
That’s a great sign for Filip Chytil’s possible return after suffering an upper-body injury against the Calgary Flames on November 6th.
The 22 year-old center was placed on IR and continues to skate on his own. Tomorrow, before the Rangers host the Montreal Canadiens, they will have a morning skate at 10:30 AM.
A definitive answer on his availability should be coming by that time.
With regards to Sammy Blais, who was injured in last night’s 4-3 shootout win over the Devils, there has been no update. The outlook however does not look good.
“I don’t know what’s going to take place because it didn’t look good to me,” coach Gerard Gallant said about the injury after the game.
