Teamfight Tactics Set 6: Gizmos & Gadgets introduced a new mechanic called Hextech Augments, and the upcoming Patch 11.23 will be bringing significant changes, according to the latest TFT patch rundown. Since it is a new addition to the game, many players probably found Hextech Augments quite confusing. Not to worry, though, as this guide will summarize all the changes you need to take note of before the patch goes live this Wednesday.

Teamfight Tactics Set 6: Hextech Augment changes in Patch 11.23

Hextech Augments get increased arrangements

The first major change brought by Patch 11.23 involves the number of table slots, with six more possible Hextech Augment arrangements now added into TFT Set 6. According to the game's developers, these slots will hopefully make the possible Augments less predictable as well as give players more flexibility in-game.

Moreover, each possible arrangement now has a new chance assigned to it. This percentage makes some tier arrangements more likely to appear than others, with the most common one at 30% is Silver-Silver-Gold tiers for first, second, and third, respectively, while the rarest are Prismatic-Silver-Pristmatic and all Prismatic at only one percent each.

Changes to specific Hextech Augment tiers, effects

Besides the Augment arrangements, some augments will also undergo certain changes. These include shifts in the assigned tiers where the Augment can appear, as well as nerfs and buffs to their effects and bonuses. This will surely change the predictability of Augment choices, as some like Dominance can no longer appear for the third choice, while those that got demoted tiers might now appear more often, depending on the percentage chance for each possible arrangement in the table.

  • Calculated Loss, Dominance, and Junkyard (Scrap): No longer offered as third choice.
  • Ardent Censer (Enchanter): Moved from Gold to Silver tier
  • Lifelong Learning (Scholar): Moved from Gold to Silver tier
  • Binary Airdrop: Moved from Silver to Gold tier. Item randomization will now avoid giving champions items that don’t synergize well with the unit.
  • Woodland Charm: Moved from Gold to Prismatic tier; clone buffed from 1200 to 1500 health.
  • Built Different:
    • Health reduced from 300/450/600 to 300/400/500
    • Attack speed nerfed from 50/65/80% to 50/60/70%
    • No longer offered as third choice
    • After choosing Built Different, players will no longer see most Hearts, Souls, and Emblems choices
  • Runic Shield (Arcanist): Duration nerfed from infinite to 8 seconds; increased shield from 250/375/500% to 300/450/600% of ability power
  • Share the Spotlight (Socialite): Increased shared bonus to 100%
  • Titanic Force: Nerfed health threshold from 1300 to 1400 (need to have at least 1400 health before AD bonus is applied); attack damage bonus reduced from 4% to 3% of HP
  • Underdogs: Health regeneration buffed from 10% to 12% of missing health; added cap of 200 health regen per second
  • Sharpshooter (Twinshot): Damage falloff increased from 40% to 45% (this nerf will now lead to less damage output)
  • Windfall: Grants intended amount of 20/25/30 gold.

In addition, the Portable Forge Augment brings about several changes to the items that players can build.

  • Death’s Defiance: Armor increased from 25 to 50.
  • Manazane: Mana regeneration buffed from 100 to 200 mana per second.
  • Obsidian Cleaver: Increased Armor/MR shredding from 40% to 70% of opponent's armor and magic resistance.
  • Randuin’s Sanctum: Shared armor and magic resistance buffed from 40 to 50.
  • Rocket Propelled Fist: Increased health from 200 to 750; buffed mana from 15 to 30.

Besides the Hextech Augment changes, Patch 11.23 also brings several tweaks to traits and champions, with the major nerfs being Gangplank, Samira, and Miss Fortune. The Augment changes will also have impacts on particular units or traits, like Twinshot thanks to the Sharpshooter nerf, for example. The updates will go live on November 17, 2021, though other tweaks could also be made before then.
